Round Two: Montréal

Right after Feet Night in Boston we headed north & finally met up with the veggie-powered bus in Burlington, VT (complete with awesome rat) before driving to Montréal. The border crossing went a lot better than expected, except that Canadian customs stole all of our merchandise and then sold it back to us at 40% off.
This Round Robin stop is billed as a part of Pop Montréal. The program for the event includes write-ups of most of the bands in both English & French, a surprising number of which were sarcastic/incomprehensible. Some were about movies. Here are some choice blurbs:
FUTURE ISLANDS
“These Baltimore natives bill themselves as minimalist New Wave pop, but if their MySpace band quote (’It’s coming down in sheets’) is any indication of their vibe, you’ll probably be wishing those were plastic sheets, in the best way.”
TEETH MOUNTAIN
“Electronica. That. Never. Stops. Dan Deacon’s Spiderman of the Rings’ hyper-attentive approach to soundstructure is paradoxically invigorating and irritating. The rhythms are often obnoxious, the looping vocals sound like screaming, yet the final product is so infectious that full-body dancing is irresistible.”
THE CREEPERS
“A Swiss academy schoolgirl becomes embroiled in an extrasensory world in which a psychotic killer lurks and she soon becomes his next target. But she learns she has a form of telekinesis that enables her to have mental communication with insects. As the villain closes in, she calls upon an army of bugs to help her defeat her enemy.”
DJ DOG DICK (misprinted as “Dock Dick”)
“Hickory Dickory Dock, the mouse ran up the clock, the clock struck one, the mouse ran down, Hickory Dickory Dock. He owns the world’s largest turntable and spins custom-made vinyl in Baltimore like a bus driver negotiating a left turn.”
